How to Create Unique Images in Popular Places

Iceland Landscape Photography

Iceland, perhaps one of if not the most acclaimed place in the world for landscape photography. It’s easy to understand why, this country is absolutely mindblowing. I took a trip here back in 2016 with some friends to photograph landscapes. When I got back home, I was a little disappointed in what I had created. The images certainly looked cool and they were very dramatic. But looking at the photographs they didn’t really feel like “ME” if that makes sense? They felt like, well any other image you see of Iceland on social media (which there is certainly plenty of) and I didn’t fully express my creativity as an artist. It made me feel a bit discouraged and it actually made me almost not want to revisit this incredible place, I almost blamed the place instead of myself for not getting unique images. That was the wrong mindset to have for so many different reasons. But for the last two years, I have had the urge to go back and try again. This time I went into the trip trying to wipe the canvas clean. Trying to forget everything I thought I knew about Iceland in a photographic sense. I tried to just go out and truly enjoy these generous places and see what caught my eye. In turn, I ended up shying away from the grand landscapes and focusing on more of the intimate scenes that were present. I really hope you all enjoy this new Iceland landscape photography vlog and check out the full image gallery below!

Stunning photos. What is the name of that first location with all the waterfalls? I missed it on my first visit back in 2017 and I would like to return sometime soon.

I love your zoom-in on the little details in places where it’s tempting only to take wide-angle shots, the videography transitions are lovely too! What camera did you use in the part of the video where you “emerge” from the water, just your cell phone? I also tried to get basalt columns at Reynifsjara beach but it’s really the post-processing that make those images ‘pop’. Wondering if you could do a YouTube tutorial on those moody edits, or give suggestions for how you achieve them?
